BOSTON, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- John Hancock's Boston Marathon Fundraising Program raised $3.3 million for charitable and community service organizations during the 112th running of the historic race. The program -- now in its 23rd year -- distributed marathon entry numbers (or "bibs") to runners who raised money for various nonprofit groups.
As part of the overall total, 96 employees of John Hancock and Manulife, its parent company, participated in the employee marathon program.
