When Nicola Davies arrived at Royal Preston Hospital at 11.45pm on New Year's Eve, she was not expecting to leave as the city's first mother of 2006.
But, within just 45 minutes of getting to the maternity ward, the 21-year-old had given birth to Nathan.
The University of Central Lancashire student, who is in her second year studying law, was rushed to hospital by her boyfriend Steve Goodchild. They expected the baby to arrive five days earlier.
Nicola, who lives in Fulwood, said: "When we got here just before midnight I could tell he was pushing to get out already, we have been waiting around for him for the past week.
