CHEWING gum stuck to pavements could be a thing of the past in Lancaster with the launch of a new clean-up.
Lancaster is one of 15 councils in the country to get government cash to deal with the sticky problem after a successful pilot in Preston.
It follows news that 24 fixed penalty notices have been given to Preston litter bugs in the past four months.
Lancaster is to adopt a similar approach of enforcement and innovation, which saw the introduction of chewing gum boards in Preston city centre and the distribution of disposable chewing gum pouches in pedestrian areas.
