I work as a moderator on a chat site provided by Internet Service Provider Lycos. It is suitable for children aged over 11.
We do have some problem chatters, but they are dealt with as soon as we see or hear what they are like.
In the chat rooms we have 'bots' which are computer programmes that respond to their name being typed. When you first enter the chat site you are put into a room called 'embarkation'. You stay there until you get to the rank of passenger.
In those rooms there are navigators who are there to help with any problem chatters. All navigators are over 16 and have reached a rank that proves they know about chat.
