Preston Council is hoping that the fight against gum grime will soon come to a sticky end once and for all.
Sonia Scowcroft, litter education officer, was trapped inside a huge pink chewing gum bubble to launch a new council campaign.
It follows last year's Bin Your Gum When You're Done scheme, which saw chewing gum litter cut by 81% in some areas.
Mrs Scowcroft said: "It's very expensive to clean up and, at the rate that it goes down and the time it takes to get up, it is a considerable expense to the council and the public."
