A federal district court judge in Cleveland has ruled that federal law doesn't preempt a lawsuit by two Ohio dealers to challenge car-maker warranty reimbursement rates.

Steven Blaushield, president of Blaushield Investments in Cleveland, and Canton dealer Gerald Eppy filed suit in 1993, seeking class-action status against General Motors, Volkswagen and Nissan.

Some of the plaintiffs' dealerships have since changed hands. Blaushield Investments owned Blaushield Nissan in Cleveland until 1990. Eppy still owns Eppy Chevrolet-Geo-Audi-Subaru, and previously owned Eppy's Automotive Center (Volkswagen-Audi-Porsche-Nissan-Subaru) in Canton.
