CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 17, 1996--The shipment of Verson ``A'' Press No. 1, the largest machine tool ever built in North America, was marked on Friday, June 14, by a Flag Day celebration attended by 600 Verson employees and guests, including Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar, Sen. Carol Moseley-Braun (D-Ill.) and Ambassador Ira S. Shapiro, a top trade negotiator for the Clinton Administration.
Built by the Verson Division of Allied Products Corp. (NYSE: ADP), the press weighs nearly 5 million pounds and is being moved to Chrysler Corp.'s Saltillo, Mexico, stamping facility in 50 separate shipments, some weighing as much as 425,000 pounds. The press was designed, built, ...
