LANCASTER businessman Michael Hoyle is heading a takeover bid at Giant Axe.
Hoyle, a former assistant manager at Lancaster, wants major shareholder Ron Moore to relinquish his controlling
interest in the struggling club.
Chairman Steve Johnston quit last week, claiming Moore had blocked his plans for a takeover.
But, since then, Hoyle's name has been strongly linked with a return to Lancaster, who held buy-out talks with ex-England international Paul Gascoigne before Christmas.
Now, if Hoyle's consortium can thrash out a deal, he could take charge as chairman before the end of the season.
