Hydrophobia. "Mad dog disease. Rabies. The name derives from the Sanskrit word "rabhas" which means "to do violence." Occurring virtually worldwide and affecting all types of mammals, rabies is transmitted through the saliva of an infected animal. Once symptoms begin, the disease is incurable and essentially 100% fatal.
