In 1990, in her foreword to Freda Waldon's Bibliography of Canadiana Published in Great Britain, 1519-1763, Mabel Thompson wrote:
Dr. Freda Waldon worked on the compilation for over three decades,
but she was unable to find a publisher. Canada was not yet ready
for so detailed a study of bibliographical introspection. (2)
Canada may hot have been ready for such analysis in Waldon's time (she completed the compilation in the middle of the twentieth century), (3) but today is far different.
