Action films account for the highest proportion of box office (34 per cent) and BO per release is second highest (standing at $134.6m).
Highest BO per release is adventure titles, standing at an impressive $227.9m per release. This is largely the effect of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Lowest BO per release comes from romantic comedy films ($65m) closely followed by horror films ($68.5m). Very few rom coms have been turned into sequels, with Bridget Jones now trying to reverse this fact.
