One of the most worthwhile projects connected to NASCAR Winston Cup Series racing _ a program for troubled or disadvantaged youth _ is in danger of going under because of no funding.
The UAW-GM Teamwork 500 on Sunday at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway was to have been the last event in which teen-agers from Freedom Village in Watkins Glen, N.Y., served as pit-crew members.
However, the Cale Yarborough Motorsports team, in conjunction with associate sponsor Husqvarna, is contributing $7,500 so the 23 participants from the school can work the Miller 400 this weekend at Michigan International Speedway, where qualifying will begin Friday.
