SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 18, 1996--Nanometrics Inc. (NASDAQ:NANO), a leading supplier of film thickness measurement and film characterizing systems to the semiconductor, magnetic recording head and flat panel display industries, today announced two shipments of their fully automated flat panel display film metrology tools to Samsung in Korea and Hoshiden in Japan.
The NanoSpec 5500L systems will be used to monitor several key production steps in the manufacture of flat panel displays (FPDs), which are used today primarily in lap top computers, and are expected to eventually replace the bulky cathode ray tubes used in TV sets.
