WED, JAN 31: TWO CONMEN got their comeuppance when two elderly women took them on their own doorsteps in separate incidents in Rugby.
Police believe this shows that residents are finally getting wise to bogus callers, thanks to mass publicity in the Advertiser and by Rugby Police.
In the first incident, at about 10.20am on Tuesday, January 16, the trickster was pushed out of the door by an elderly woman when he refused to get his ID.
He originally told the woman that he needed to get to a burst pipe at the back of her house in Craven Road.
The man feld when he was confronted, which prompted another mystery man to run down the stairs ...
