KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 Asia Pulse - Media Prima Berhad (KLSE:4502), Malaysia's largest media group, has recorded a 39.1 per cent jump in interim pre-tax profit due to lower finance costs as well as the continued improvement in the operational results of associate New Straits Times (NSTP).
Its pre-tax profit for the six months ended 30 June 2008 rose to RM59.899 million (US$17.7 million) from RM43.063 million in the previous year.
It said the results included a RM5.5 million charge on voluntary separation scheme (VSS) cost undertaken during the second quarter as part of the continuing strategy to reduce cost and improve operational efficiency.
