Chinese corn prices to stay weak in September - analysts

Shanghai. August 29. INTERFAX-CHINA - China's corn prices will stay weak ahead of the main market debut of fresh corn, which is expected after mid-October this year, as consumption looks set to remain sluggish, analysts told Interfax on Aug. 29.

Corn futures on the Dalian Commodity Exchange dropped from a peak of RMB 1,928 ($282.28) per ton on July 1 to a low of RMB 1,706 ($249.78) per ton on Aug. 19, down 11.5 percent. Since Aug. 19, prices have risen modestly, with the January contract closing at RMB 1,744 ($255.34) per ton on Aug. 28.
