WASHINGTON--The mental health parity provision in the Senate-passed health insurance portability bill would increase health insurance premiums by 8.7 percent, according to a newly-completed study commissioned by four of the nation's largest employer organizations.
Management consultants Price Waterhouse also estimated that 1.7 million workers and dependents would lose employer-sponsored health coverage--more than twice the 800,000 individuals estimated by the Congressional Budget Office. (See Washington Notebook, NU, June 10.)
