ROTHERHAM COUNCIL today pledged to support workers at a tool firm who face losing their jobs.
Stanley Tools are planning to cut a third of jobs at the firm's remaining UK manufacturing plant in Hellaby.
The firm, which once had five factories in the Sheffield area, has told the 296-strong workforce that as many as 117 jobs could go as part of a global re-organisation.
The move would see production of screwdrivers, planes and US chisels moved out of Britain altogether to countries where production costs are said to be 40 per cent cheaper. Company bosses have also warned shop floor workers they could face a pay cut or an increase in hours if the ...
