FRUIT and vegetable intake in Sunderland is among the lowest in the country, it was revealed today.
The city has the third worst level of fruit and veg consumption in England and Wales, according to a new report.
People in the city bought an average of 1.94 portions of fresh or dried fruit and vegetables each per day, well below the national average of 2.9 items.
However, not one of the 100 towns and cities included in the league table reached the recommended five portions a day.
Shoppers in Bath were top of the league with 3.92 per person, while Rochdale was bottom with 1.91.
