A POLICEWOMAN is beginning her dream career after a pioneering new eye operation restored her failing vision.
Ever since she was a teenager, Stacy Eggleston had only ever set her heart on joining the police service.
However, a rare hereditary eye condition was set to scupper her chances making her ineligible to apply.
But the 22-year-old's life has been "totally transformed" thanks to a revolutionary procedure.
For nearly a decade cataracts had blighted Stacy's vision.
"It was just dreadful," said Stacy, who lives in Durham.
"Becoming a police officer is all I have ever wanted to do.
