IT LOOKS like a simple name on a piece of paper - but it marks a milestone for a little boy who was born without thumbs.
Tyler Dolan was born with 10 fingers - just like his mum. But surgeons transformed the six-year-old's life by turning a finger on each hand into a thumb.
Tyler, a pupil at Oxclose Primary School, Washington, had to learn to hold a pencil with his newly-formed right hand.
And as his name shows, he's making amazing progress.
His mum Clare, 29, of Dunstanburgh Close, Oxclose, said: "His writing is coming on really well. Despite all he has been through, he lets nothing get in his way.
