The North East's most prestigious hotel is set to get permission to more than double in size.
Seaham Hall Hotel and Serenity Spa, the only five-star centre in the region, wants to add 29 rooms to its facilities.
The hall, where notorious poet Lord Byron married Anne Isabella in 1815, has gained a worldwide reputation since it was transformed into a luxury hotel and spa for tourists and businessmen visiting East Durham and Wearside.
It has submitted two planning applications to Easington District Council for a scheme to add to its 19 suites, which are expected to be approved at a meeting tomorrow.
