NIALL QUINN remains hopeful of discovering today if his bid for Kevin Phillips has been successful, despite the Midlands club announcing a [pounds sterling]62.6million takeover.
Sunderland chairman-manager Quinn wants to bring Phillips back to the Stadium of Light in a bid to kick-start the Black Cats' season.
Villa's proposed takeover deal with American Randy Lerner is a potential spanner in the works, but the Sunderland supremo would still like to know today whether or not his Phillips swoop has succeeded.
