Article: One last hurdle to takeover.

THE ongoing soap opera which the protracted takeover of Sunderland Football Club has become, could finally reach its climax by the end of the week if the two sides reach agreement on what is believed to be the last sticking point holding up the deal.

Niall Quinn flew to the North East on Monday to meet the Sunderland board for talks which were productive but not conclusive.

But now the door is open for a meeting later this week which could finally bring the takeover saga to an end and result in the successful completion of a deal which would see Quinn's Irish consortium at last installed as new owners.
