The purpose of this article is to review the role of chest physical therapy in the intensive care unit (ICU). Treatments are described and critiqued for, utility in the ICU. The ICU is a unique environment, and patients are frequently mechanically ventilated and have multiple invasive lines and drainage tubes that are needed to optimize hemodynamic status.
