SECAUCUS, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 1996--Panasonic Computer Peripheral Company (PCPC) announced today that the European Computer Manufacturers Association (ECMA), a European association dedicated to the standardization of information and communication systems, has approved the PD Optical Disk Standard. Proposal number ECMA-240 was approved by ECMA at its 71st General Assembly meeting last week in Berlin and had been submitted by Asahi Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., NEC Corporation, Plasmon PLC, 3M Company, Toray Industries, Inc. and Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. at the 41st meeting of the Technical Committee 31 on December 12, 1995 in Nice, France.
