COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--Jun. 26--For the second straight quarter, and just the third time in the history of the survey, the cost of living in Colorado Springs is higher than the U.S. average.
Using a national average of 100, the city's composite index in the first quarter rose to 102.3 percent -- the highest ever in the 29-year American Chamber of Commerce Researchers Association survey.
The nonprofit organization calculates the composite index by weighing various costs in six separate categories: grocery items, housing, utilities, transportation, health care, and miscellaneous goods and services. The results from 1996's first-quarter survey reflects the cost ...
