NORTON - Tim Clark didn't get his 59, but he settled for a pretty fair consolation prize - the lead halfway through the sixth annual Deutsche Bank Championship.
Clark needed to birdie one of his last two holes yesterday at TPC Boston to become only the fourth PGA Tour golfer to shoot a record 59, but he bogeyed both to card a 9-under-par 62 for a two-day total of 14 under and a one-shot lead over first-round leader Mike Weir.
The 62 tied the lowest round of Clark's career, but it still was disappointing. Shooting a 59 is like hitting .400 in baseball or rolling a 300 in bowling. You don't get many chances to do it.
