A GP suspended for giving sleeping pills to a suicidal patient is helping a campaign for new euthanasia laws.
Dr Iain Kerr was banned from practising medicine for six months by the General Medical Council (GMC) in July after prescribing the drugs to an elderly woman who later killed herself.
Now the Glasgow-based doctor has vowed to help MSPs backing the campaign - but last night gave assurances he will not prescribe potentially fatal drugs to patients who want to kill themselves.
Dr Kerr, 62, has been invited by LibDem MSP Jeremy Purvis to the Scottish parliament to speak to politicians about the issue.
