LIFEBOAT chiefs in Scarborough have warned about the dangers of using inflatables after a group of people were almost swept out to sea.
The four were reported to be in difficulty at the south end of Cayton Bay on Sunday afternoon, but managed to beat a powerful ebb tide and a strong offshore breeze to make it back to shore under Killerby Cliffs before the arrival of Scarborough's inshore lifeboat the John Wesley Hillard II.
Scarborough Lifeboat second coxswain Wave Crookes said it could have so easily ended in tragedy.
