THE new leader of Scarborough Council has been dragged into a row over the welfare of Scarborough beach donkeys.
Animal lover Sue Stone had complained about the condition of the donkeys in an email to Cllr Tom Fox and eight other borough councillors which she regarded as confidential.
But she alleged the contents of that email were then leaked to Guy Smith, a partner in a donkey business, by one or more of four borough council members.
