Hundreds of Scarborough Council jobs could be lost if plans to create a super-council for North Yorkshire are given the go-ahead, it is claimed.
Jim Dillon, Scarborough Council's chief executive, has fired his opening salvo in a battle to the death with colleagues at North Yorkshire County Council.
The two authorities currently share responsibility for providing all local services, but the Government has said the current system has to change and it is likely one council will be scrapped and the other will take over its work.
