AN interesting case came before Judge Dodd, KC at the Scarborough County court in which Geo Sedman and Agnes Arnell, trading as JT Sedman, of 1 Newborough Street, jewellers, sued the Countess de Hamel de Manin, of 35 Circus Road, St John's Wood, London, for [pounds sterling]3 5s, goods sold.
Mr GE Royle was for plaintiffs and defendant, who was fashionably attired, was not legally represented.
The amount claimed [pounds sterling]3 5s represented the cost of a gold chain sold by plaintiffs to the Countess on September 19, 1905.
On that day she called at the shop with her lady's maid and purchased four lots of jewellery.
