THE risk of becoming a victim of identity fraud has rocketed for people who live in Scarborough, according to leading financial experts.
The town has leapt 90 places in the at risk of identity fraud list produced by Experian, taking it from 284th to 194th.
This makes Scarborough the fourth highest riser in the list, behind Blackpool, Southport and Newport, on the Isle of Wight.
A spokesman for Experian said: "We have also produced a list of risk scores. The risk score for the average UK resident is 100, but people in Scarborough have a risk score of 60, which means they are less likely than average to become a victim.
