A GRANDMOTHER is "elated" after the safe return of her grandson's missing cockatiel.
Two-and-half-year-old Geoffrey, who flew away while in the care of Ann Sherlock, was found by a bird enthusiast and his dog.
Mrs Sherlock, 53, of Eastfield, described Geoffrey's return as "being like Christmas all over again" for grandsons Thomas, nine, and six-year-old Billy.
The bird was found by John Cooper, of Castlegate, who was in an outhouse at the back of his home when he heard an "unusual call" and noticed Geoffrey perched on his next door neighbour's television aerial.
