A FAMILY'S home was hit by lightning - but nobody was hurt.
The incident happened in Friar's Gardens on Saturday evening following the torrential downpours that hit the town.
Sales manager Sarah Thornton said: "There was a loud flash and a bang. It hit the front and back of the house at the same time. The power went down in a couple of houses but it came back up shortly after."
Mrs Thornton, who has four children, was watching television at the time and rang her husband at work.
She said: "It was very scary but our electrical equipment was saved by the power surge mechanisms we have had fitted.
