YOUNGSTERS are being urged to be more careful on the roads after Scarbor- ough Council launched a new campaign.

It aims to reduce the number of accidents which result from children stepping out from behind parked vehicles.

For several years the number of children injured on the road has been decreasing but last year saw a rise - the first since 2001.

And since 2000, 36 children have been injured as pedestrians - 12 in 2006.
