A CAMPAIGN has been launched to crack down on the amount of junk mail being pushed through letterboxes in the Scarborough area.
Now, the York and North Yorkshire Waste Partnership has taken steps to to help householders reduce the amount of junk mail they receive.
At present only about 15 per cent of such mail is being recycled
The partnership points out that by registering with the Mailing Preference Service and the Royal Mail's Door to Door Opt Out service, households can drastically cut the amount junk mail they receive - but it could take some months to take effect.
