JONATHAN Bateman led the way for the 13 Scarborough Athletic Club runners at the London Marathon.
He finished in 2.42.31 - a time that reflected the hot conditions, but resulted in an excellent 157th finish overall.
In the final miles he lost several minutes while being treated for cramp by the St John's Ambulance attendants.
Next to finish was 46-year-old Shane Gray who had a very successful London debut with a 2.52.19 finshing time and 431st overall.
He was followed by another of the club's top veteran athletes, Neil Scruton, who will be 60 next month, and was therefore competing in the over-55 division for the last time.
