A BREAK from stamp duty for all homes worth under pounds 175,000 gained a mixed reaction from estate agents and mortgage lenders yesterday.
The move, which will last for 12months, raised the 1% stamp duty threshold from pounds 125,000 to pounds 175,000, and is intended to breathe life into a housing market that has all but ground to a halt.
