EU member states must coordinate further their development policies at European level in order to effectively fight against poverty. This is the key message of the European Commission during the third high level meeting on aid effectiveness organised under the umbrella of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, from 2 to 4 September in Accra, Ghana. Louis Michel, the EU commissioner in charge of development, wants to take advantage of this meeting attended by the world's largest donors to push for a better division of labour among EU member states in order to increase the impact of Europe's aid in Africa.
