A WEST Pinchbeck man who has waited a decade for a knee replacement operation has been told that he will not get one as he is overweight.
Osteoarthritis sufferer Stanley Mayfield (61) hopes that replacing his left knee cap and half of his right one will stop his pain.
But now he has been told he cannot have a left knee replacement because at 20 stone he exceeds the body mass index, a measure of body fat based on height and weight.
At 6ft, Mr Mayfield's weight should be under 13 stone, according to the index.
Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust has restricted funding for operations on some patients.
