Eastern Europe in Transformation
Eastern Europe is the description commonly applied to the countries comprising the former Soviet Union, its satellites and the former Yugoslavia. These countries have a combined population of over 400 million and they contain many heavily industrialized centres. Since 1989 the area has been experiencing economic and political reforms of immense proportions. It has become a 'living laboratory' in organizational transformation within a context of profound institutional change.
