COLOMBO, Sept 4 Asia Pulse - Asia continued to do well amidst global financial turmoil and Sri Lanka and the Maldives are set to perform well, despite an expected slowdown, a top HSBC official said.
"There will be a slowdown in the second half of 2007, due to lagging effects of a global slowdown in second half of last year and the first half of this year," HSBC Asia Pacific chief Sandy Flockhart said.
"Pre-tax profit in Asia was up 20 per cent year-on-year in the first half, and we are pleased with how the region is holding up.
