GLENN Roeder today insisted he will not get carried away by the World Cup as he looks to strengthen his Newcastle United side.
Roeder - yet to dip into the transfer market since being appointed full-time manager at St James's Park - says he will not gamble on the tournament's star players, unless he is convinced they can produce week in, week out away from the biggest stage in football.
The former West Ham United boss said: "A lot of managers will be going to view the World Cup but from my experience you have to treat international competitions like this with a lot of care.
