Article: Rockers reunite after nine years apart.

AFTER nine years apart -one of South Tyneside's most popular local bands is back.

An impromptu meeting in a pub led the five members of Crippling Jack to reform, hoping to recreate the enjoyment they used to have writing and performing music together.

In 1996, Iain Cunningham, Ian Maxwell, Richard Gardner, Paul Westgate and Chris Charlton formed Crippling Jack and rocked the South Shields music scene.

Playing various gigs, they soon built up a healthy fan base, becoming hugely popular around the town's pubs and clubs.

But by 1998 they went their separate ways to pursue other interests.
