An Australian investment fund is reportedly interested in purchasing Chilean investment group Grupo Solari's Aguas Nuevas water utility holding, local paper Estrategia reported.

Grupo Solari officials have declined to comment on the issue or on the price tag for the holding. However, the paper quoted a water sector official as saying the purchase price could be over US$350mn.

When Canada's Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP) purchased Southern Cross' market share, it paid about US$1,000 per client. Aguas Nuevas has about 353,000 clients distributed in four of the country's regions, the report said.
