/ADVANCE/VANCOUVER, B.C., July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- According to a study in this week's issue of The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), a twice-daily dose of Famvir(R) (oral famciclovir, SmithKline Beecham) significantly reduced all symptoms of recurrent genital herpes in immunocompetent patients treated within six hours of symptoms or lesion onset. The study also reports that famciclovir accelerated the healing of herpes lesions and reduced viral shedding.
