TO Christians, Easter is the biggest festival of the year, celebrating what they believe is the most important aspect of Jesus's life - his resurrection.
But in today's society, the only celebrations that dominate the news are retailers toasting their profit margins.
To retailers, Easter now comes as a saving grace after their post-Christmas spending slump.
This year's big winners are card retailers. Sending Easter cards has now leapt from being the preserve of churchgoing Catholics as a gesture of goodwill to a nationwide custom which shifts 16 million Easter cards every year.
