PUPILS have received a first-hand account of the Holocaust from an 80-year-old Jewish man who fled Hitler's Germany as a child.
Steven Mendelsson was born in Breslau in Germany in 1926 and attended the Jewish Grammar School there.
But in 1939, when pressure on the Jewish population grew, his parents arranged for Steven and his brother Walter to flee to Britain.
Now 80, and a member of the London Jewish Cultural Centre, he is part of the Holocaust Survivor Testimony Programme.
And as part of his role he visits schools throughout the country recounting his story and reminding new generations of the slaughter of six million Jews in the gas ...
